Row House vs Town House, which one is good for you?

Row houses and townhouses are both types of attached housing, but they have some key differences that may make one a better than another.

A row house is a type of attached housing that shares one or more walls with the houses next to it. It is typically have a smaller footprint than single-family homes, which means it take up a very small space on a lot.

They also tend to be more energy efficient than larger homes because of small space needs to be heated or cooled. Additionally, row houses often have a more traditional and historic aesthetic, which can be appealing to some homebuyers.

On the other hand, townhouses are typically larger than row houses and may have more features such as a private backyard, garage or parking space. They also tend to be more modern in design, which can appeal to homebuyers looking for a more contemporary home.

Townhouses also tend to have more bigger space than row houses, which can be especially beneficial for big family.

Another key difference between row houses and townhouses is the level of ownership and maintenance. Row houses are usually individually owned, which means that each homeowner is responsible for maintaining their own home. Townhouses, on the other hand, are often part of a homeowners association (HOA) which means that maintenance and repair of common areas, such as the exterior of the building, water system, etc... is taken care of by the association. This can be beneficial for homeowners who don't want the responsibility of maintaining a house, but it also means you may have to pay HOA fees.

Another thing to consider is the location, Row houses are typically found in older, more densely populated cities like Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Batangas, while Townhouses are more common in suburban areas or newer developments such as Quezon City, Makati and other high end areas in the Philippines.

In terms of overall value, it's difficult to say which type of housing is more valuable. Both row houses and townhouses can be found at a wide range of price points and can be good investments depending on factors such as location, condition, and features.

Ultimately, the decision between a row house and a townhouse will depend on your personal preferences. If you're looking for a smaller, more energy-efficient home with a traditional aesthetic, a row house may be the better choice. If you're looking for more living space and modern amenities, a townhouse may be a better fit.
